Genna is the cart that inspired our next-gen approach to innovation, so we named her accordingly. Because we knew she needed to be extremely robust and reliable, we developed a brand-new battery system for powering PCs and laptops. After extensive testing with a range of users and workplace settings, results show that the new battery system is a game-changer for powered carts in healthcare settings.
We’ve also added an LED light strip at the front of the cart, offering a simple, at-a-glance view of battery status so you can easily see when the cart’s power is running low and needs to be charged, reducing the risk of unplanned downtime.
We designed the carts to be used by multiple users, so finding an optimal height for each user to work comfortably was a key factor in our clinician-led design. We’ve refined our electric height adjustment to make it more responsive so each user can find their perfect height by simply pressing an ‘up’ or ‘down’ button. The focus on electric capabilities led us to name our second cart, Evie, which means ‘life’ and is also a play on words for ‘electric vehicle’.
For trusts that use our market-leading medical-grade all-in-one Infinity PC or want to keep carts plugged when in use, we also offer a version of the cart without battery power. These unpowered carts still benefit from an electric boost when raising or lowering the cart, thanks to a unique hybrid control system which allows users to raise or lower the cart at the touch of a button.
Both carts offer a new era for power-assisted WOWs, designed specifically for the NHS and other UK healthcare providers.
Following feedback from our customers about the need for more storage without reducing available floor space in smaller or congested rooms, we carefully considered how to maximise storage in a medium-footprint cart. Thanks to two shelves of dedicated large (500ml) bottle storage and up to five drawers for medication packs and smaller bottles, Genna efficiently stores and organises supplies to reduce the risk of spills and make it easier to locate supplies.
Evie’s modular design means she can also be easily be upgraded to add storage at a later date, if needed.
Both carts offer a more ergonomic experience when working at the computer. We’ve reduced the width between the retractable keyboard tray and the screen so users work at more comfortable distances. Meanwhile, accessories such as sharps bins, barcode readers and label printers can be mounted to the side of the cart to keep work surfaces clutter-free for more efficient working and dispensing.
PCs are securely housed in a separate compartment at the back of the cart, away from any risk of damage from spills or bumps, and laptops are housed in an infection control cover for patient safety.
Evie and Genna have been described as “the best carts Parity Medical have ever made”, and clinicians have been extremely happy with its features that allow for better ergonomics and continuity of use, increased storage capacity, and better serviceability and reliability.
Convenient steering handles are located at the side of Evie and Genna which allow users to move the carts easily and precisely, even in light spaces. Side handles mean the computer monitor doesn’t obstruct the user’s view when manoeuvring the cart, so the user has a much clearer view ahead and it also reduces the risk of damaging the screen during transit.
